Hour Glass

There's a reason why we don't learn everything early on, or ever for most of us. Instead we learn things in layers, one grain at a time. You don't explain things to a child the way you would to an adult, that would be just too much information that would even be useless because the mind doesn't understand.  As your level of maturity increases so does your ability to soak in knowledge and so then life becomes more complex. Welcome to adulthood right? Kidding.
Life isn't one big hourglass, that would be too easy. I think of it as cycles that aren't necessarily measured in time because we all change at different stages in our lives.
We are born, live a little then Bam! Turn the hourglass, live a little more and then switch again. We learn what we need to know and live what we are meant to live. Enough philosophy for tonight ;)

PiƱa Colada Cupcakes

You can blame my aunt for this one. Once upon a time, a little over a year ago she introduced me to this sweet mouth-watering magic! Her version included  Coconut Rum in the mix and was the perfect dessert for my 21st Birthday Bash! However,  having a child around who is constantly opening the fridge looking for treats to stuff her little face in, while having alcoholic cupcakes is prrrobbbbably not a very good idea. So mine are non-alcoholic and 100% child approved!

1 box of Betty Crocker Super Moist cake mix
3 large eggs
1/3 cup oil (vegetable or corn)
1/4 cup water
1 cup diced pineapple chunks with juice (this makes up for the small amount of water, the box suggest 3/4 cups)
1 Tablespoon Rum of your choice (optional)
Coconut flakes (as desired)
Foil cupcake cups, they avoid they stay true to color!

Mix away!! I love the retro-feel my gma's blender has!

                                  20 minutes later....or was it 18? haha
                                               Oven is Ready!!

Let them cool for at least 10 minutes before frosting! I used Betty Crocker Vanilla Whipped Frosting...I am not very good at decorating or little delicate movements like amazing bakers so I used a baby spoon, literally smaller than a teaspoon to spread the frosting!
Add some coconut flakes!! I used toothpicks to attach some pineapple pieces  and a cherry on top! When adding moist fruit to any cake make sure to dap off the excess juice because it tends to smear on the frosting depending on the color of the fruit, (you can thank all the fake food coloring the industry used for that)!
                                                     Buen Provecho!!!

                                                   -Sincerely, Amy <3

Fairtytale Tea Party- Fun Size!

This all began after reading one of my Favorite fashion bloggers post "Whimsical Garden"! It was a mixture of all the things I adore. Fairy-tale, girly, nature, photography and tea! My hometown does not have amazing trees like these...it's more like Mesquite trees, cactus and lots of thorny bushes, but where there is a will there is a way! I took advantage that Emily, my 3-year old and her cousin were in a fun and girly mood and convinced them to help me out! In their eyes they were simply having fun while I snapped away!

Would you like some Tea?
My grandparents backyard was the perfect spot (and convenient)
to set-up a table and chairs and let the party begin! I like that the yellow ads a vintage feel and along with a floral bouquet I snatched from my grandma's guest room, the set-up is casual yet girly!
Kathy was alot more interested in taking photos than drinking tea and turned out to be quite a helpful model!
At the end of the day the girls enjoyed watching the sunset wearing their adorable Sunday hats (also found in my grandma's house), sipping away their cups of tea!

I can't wait to see what the future will bring. These girls have now opened a window of possibilities for staged photo-shoots, but most importantly they can now grow up and say they had Sunday tea parties with paparazzi!

Blank pages and I seem to get along. I find something magical behind the power of words and their impact. 26 letters, plus  a mixture of endless combinations can speak to the mind, heart and soul. My hope is to fill empty spaces with words of wisdom, positivity and love. I'm writing my life, one word at a time. Sincerely, Amy
